Statevector

A vector of complex amplitudes describing a pure quantum state in a chosen basis.

Back to glossary

A statevector is the “full information” representation of a pure state. For nn qubits, it has 2n2^n complex amplitudes (one per computational basis state).

Important limitation

Real hardware does not provide statevectors on demand. Statevector inspection is a simulation-only tool.
